Choir meets weekly on Wednesday nights from 7:00 to 8:30pm from September through the first part of June, in the auditorium. We sing during both morning services, most Sundays. Our major productions/concerts each year are at Christmas time and Easter weekend.
The best time to join choir is in September, January, or just following Easter. Auditions are not required, but they can be helpful. Not everyone reads music, so don't let that stop you. If you really love to sing, come join us!
Orchestra accompanies the choir and congregational worship twice per month. We rehearse with the choir on the Wednesdays prior. We also accompany the major productions each year (see above).
We are blessed to have very proficient instrumentalists in our orchestra. Auditions are required. We’re looking for dedicated musicians who were leaders among their peers and played at least through high school. Current high school students are welcome to audition as well. We currently have openings for oboe, tuba and all strings. If you would like to audition or are available for substituting, please email Linda Collins.
Drama Ministry
The Christmas Production is a major undertaking that usually begins in January. Periodic drama sketches for Sunday mornings are used occasionally as well. A variety of gifts are needed: Set design & construction, costume design & construction, lighting design and engineering, choreography, video production, props, stage manager, script-writing . . . and acting.
Have you always wanted to be in an Alderwood Christmas Drama, but can't commit to months of rehearsals? Come audition to be in a video that will be part of the Christmas show. We're looking for imaginative people to play the part of an angel "interviewing" to be part of something God is doing called "Creation". Peals of Praise Bell Choir
Would you like to make beautiful music? Maybe this ministry is for you! Basic music skills are helpful but not required. Peals of Praise (adults) rehearses on Tuesday evenings from 6:45 to 8:30pm. Joy Bells (4th grade - youth) rehearses on Sunday evenings from 6:00 - 7:00pm. Handbell workshops/orientations are held twice a year. Consisting of vocalists from the choir, and rotating band members, the Worship Teams lead Alderwood's largest choir - the congregation - in weekly Sunday morning worship. We rehearse on Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7pm. Contact Linda Collins if you would like to audition.
